Get to know Alana Shapiro
I am so glad you are here! I believe that mental health is a critical part of overall health and wellbeing. My decision to go into the mental health field began with a genuine desire to help the most vulnerable populations, often those with limited access to resources. I hold a deep belief that everyone deserves access to excellent care and treatment. In my clinical work, I have seen how quality treatment could truly alter the course of someone’s life.
Alana provides care under the belief that humans naturally turn to maladaptive coping in effort to survive profoundly challenging emotions and experiences– perhaps out of necessity. However, these survival tactics could have long-term consequences despite honest attempts to feel better. Embarking on the journey of change and healing could be what distinguishes a life in survival mode to one of self-discovery, connection and meaning.
Change is usually not an easy task, especially when taking the first steps. Alana’s approach to therapy tends to be collaborative, authentic, and strength-based to support individuals in fostering change. She believes change is a fluid process and an autonomous decision, highlighting the importance of cultivating a warm, non-judgemental, and safe space. She is dedicated to providing quality evidence-based treatment to support you in reaching your goals and creating a meaningful life.
