Get To Know Kristin Patten

From a young age, I was fascinated by human behavior—wondering why some homes felt safe and nurturing while others did not. That curiosity grew into a passion for helping families, leading me to become a therapist dedicated to guiding couples, children, and parents in building strong, supportive foundations where everyone can thrive.

With nearly 20 years of experience in the mental health field, I have had the privilege of watching countless families find hope, healing, and growth through therapy. I especially enjoy working with children and adolescents, helping them and their parents navigate challenges together.

My approach is strengths-based and grounded in the belief that you don’t have to stay stuck in stress, fear, or self-doubt. Therapy can help you and your family rediscover calm, confidence, and meaningful bonds. I work with concerns such as sleep difficulties, low self-esteem, anxiety, trauma, depression, and mind-body symptoms like headaches, stomach aches, and emotional dysregulation. I specialize in supporting children, teens, and families as they set and achieve personal goals, heal from past experiences, and move toward a healthier, more connected future. I would be privileged to help you or your loved one navigate big feelings, build resilience, and begin to heal.

About Kristin Patten

Kristin has been a practicing therapist for nearly 20 years, specializing in trauma and emotional dysregulation in children and adolescents. She began her career working with children in foster care who endured significant abuse and neglect, experiences that shaped her deep commitment to involving the entire family in the healing process to create lasting change.

Over the years, Kristin previously built a practice around the ARC (Attachment, Regulation, and Competency) model, which views youth holistically and supports growth in core areas of development. She integrates a range of evidence-based approaches—including Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Trauma-Focused CBT (TF-CBT), Play Therapy, Theraplay, and SPARCS (Structured Psychotherapy for Adolescents Responding to Chronic Stress).

Her clinical experience spans working with survivors and perpetrators of abuse, adolescents with sexual behavior concerns, individuals struggling with self-harm, blending families, couples, and families navigating reunification. She has also supported patients and families coping with medical trauma, including cancer. In addition to her clinical work, Kristin speaks regularly at community groups, educating parents on the causes of dysregulation in children and offering practical strategies for support.

While her passion for helping children and families remains strong, Kristin is also expanding her focus to include adults facing anxiety and depression—especially when compounded by biological factors or difficult life circumstances. Her goal is to provide compassionate, effective care that helps individuals and families build resilience, restore balance, and move toward a healthier future.
